Gold discusses his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a navigator on a bomber and a POW in Germany for eighteen months; he includes a discussion of his youth, his training in the AAF, missions over Germany, life in the prison camp in Germany, rescue by the Russians, return to the USA, education and medical practice. Comment on PTSD, war, and veterans organizations.

DiMascola joined the WAVES in 1944. She trained at Hunter College, then had yeoman school training at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was assigned to Newport, RI, Naval Training Station where she was secretary to the Commanding Officer. Public Work Department. She was transferred to Great Lakes NTS where she worked in a demobilization center.
