Biographical / Historical
Robert Hugo Dunlap, also known as Bobby Dunlap, (b. Oct. 19, 1920, Abingdon, Illinois-d. Mar. 24, 2000, Montmouth, Illinois), Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, 26th Marines, 5th Marine Division. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as commanding officer of Company C, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines, 5th Marine Division during the seizure of Iwo Jima in the Volcano Islands February 20 and 21, 1945.
