Scope and Contents

Yorden, Steven F., Chief Warrant Officer, USN, 1921-. Typescript of interview with Chief Warrant Officer Yorden who enlisted in the Navy and served as a shipfitter in destroyers in the Pacific during WWII. Focus is on setvice in USS Ralph Talbot where he witnessed the Pearl Harbor attack, 1941; Saw action in thirty major Pacific Thea­ tre battles, including Coral Sea, the Marshalls and Gilberts, Midway, Guadalcanal and Leyte Gulf; Survived a typhoon in December 1944; Seived in USSFlusser, USS Dewey, USSFargo, USSGrand Canyon and USS Rockbridge. Retired in 1960; Postnaval career in construction business.
