Biographical Note

Alexander J. Perry, a brigadier general in the Army, was the son of Nathaniel Perry and the nephew of Oliver Hazard and Matthew C. Perry. He graduated from West Point in 1851 and served in the Seminole Indian War and during the Civil War was chief quartermaster of the Department of Florida. After the war he served in various quartermaster posts and retired in 1892.
