Processing Information

In 1992, "Views on Board the U.S. Steel Cruiser Atlanta" was sent to NEDCC for repair. Its binding was missing and only a poition of its leather spine remained. NEDCC collated and disbound the volume. Pages were dry cleaned, washed and buffered with magnesium bicarbonate solution. Tears were mended only when necessary with Japanese paper and rice starch paste. The pages were encapsulated in Mylar and a phase box was made to house the pages.
