Webber was a naval surgeon stationed at the Boston Navy Yard and on board USS Ohio during the Civil War. Letters discuss his patients and their ailments, Christianity, his urging his fiancée to become a Christian, the Civil War and slavery, Christian Prayer meetings, his spiritual life and progress.
