Civilian Women Sworn into Regular Navy, 1949 Dec 30
8x10 photograph of women being sworn into the regular navy. In a ceremony today which took place in the office of Vice Admiral John D. Price, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, five women, two of whom are from the Washington area, were sworn into the regular navy as ensigns. The women shown are part of a group of 35 selected from commissions direct from civilian life. From left to right they are: Vice Admiral Price:; Jeanne M. Schrumpf, 1211 Quincy Street, N.W.
