Biographical Note

Chester W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, was born in 1885 in Fredericksburg, TX. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1905. Nimitz was a member of the NWC Senior Class of 1923. In 1941, he was named Commander of the Pacific Fleet and from 1945 to 1947, he was Chief of Naval Operations.
